Letters from the Principals: Be sure to read Mrs. Heyward's letter to Bryant families and Mrs. Alston's letter to Pattengill families, filled with timely information for our school community.

Ann Arbor Parent Advisory Committee for Special Education (AAPAC): The AAPAC is a source to support parents with special education/504 processes, accommodations, and supports within AAPS. The group can provide resources, contact with new and experienced parents, an understanding of where the district is going, and ensure that parents' voices are heard in policy decisions. If interested, please attend the AAPAC meeting on Monday, Oct. 5, 6:15pm at Tappan Middle School's Media Center. Please see the attached flyer for more information.

Restaurant Day Is Tuesday: Our first Restaurant Day of the school year will be at Mi Compadre, 2111 Packard (at Crestland, near Pattengill), from 9am-9pm on Tuesday, Oct. 6 The locally owned Mexican restaurant will give our PTO 15% of all sales for breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Oct. 6. Please consider dining in or getting take-out with your family, friends, teammates, or co-workers. Flyers are attached here as a reminder, but you will not need to present a flyer for our schools to receive a donation. Enjoy some good food for a good cause!

You're invited! PTO General Meeting on 10/8: Don't miss the Fall Bryant/Pattengill Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) general meeting: Thursday, Oct. 8, 6:30-7:30pm, Bryant Multipurpose Room. Each B/P parent or guardian is a member of the PTO. Come learn how you can get involved and contribute to our school community. B/P Social Worker Elizabeth Elster will share tips for a smooth start to the school year, including different ways to ask your child about his day without asking "How was your day?" Childcare provided. See you there!

Pattengill Curriculum Night Survey: Pattengill families, we would love your feedback on Curriculum Night. Please complete this 3-question survey to help us continue the success of Curriculum Night and improve it each year. Thank you!

Movie Night Is Coming and We Need Your Help: Movie Night will take place on Friday, Oct. 16, 5:30-8:00pm in the Bryant Gym. Volunteers are needed to sell concessions and monitor the hallways during the event. To volunteer, please sign up here: or contact Kathy Owens at

Pattengill Library Volunteers Needed: Mrs. Schreck is looking for volunteers to help with checking books in and out during the following class times (see below). If you have any other time you can give during the school day to help with putting books back on shelves, she would gladly welcome you, as well! Please contact Mrs. Schreck at if you can help.

Please Contribute Your PTO Dues: It's not too late to donate your 2015-2016 PTO Dues, to help support the many family events, special assemblies, and field trips that the PTO funds for our students each year. Dues account for ? of our funding each year, so please give at a level that is comfortable for your family. To donate securely online, click here. You may also return your dues to your child's teacher (checks made payable to Bryant/Pattengill PTO). On behalf of our students and teachers, thank you!

NWEA Testing Underway: The Northwest Evaluation Association national assessment testing is taking place at Bryant/Pattengill now through Oct. 16. Please be sure your child receives a good night's rest, a healthy breakfast, and arrives to school on time. The morning bell rings at 8:53am.

Parent Pick-Up Guidelines: Parents, when picking up your student from school, please follow all traffic laws. Please do not block fire hydrants (it is illegal to park within 15 feet of a hydrant), mailboxes, or driveways in front of homes leading up to the school or in the adjacent courts. If you are parking in the handicap parking areas, you MUST have a handicap license or permit displayed in your vehicle. Thank you for respecting our neighbors and all traffic laws.

Bryant Families Invited to a Musical Production: Come see "Dog Loves Books" on Oct. 3, 1:30pm at the Michigan Theater, 603 E. Liberty. All Bryant families should have received a ticket voucher in their child's backpack.

Pattengill Student Council Elections Are Coming: Parent volunteers are needed to help hang candidate posters on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, Oct. 5-7 from 8:30-9:15am. The assembly to hear the presidential candidates' speeches and meet all candidates running for all positions will be Friday, Oct. 9, 9:15am. We're excited for the year ahead! Questions? 5th Grade Camp Meeting: Fifth grade families please plan to attend the 5th Grade Camp Meeting on Monday, Oct. 5, 6pm in the Pattengill Cafetorium. Staff and coordinators will provide information and answer questions about 5th Grade Camp. Parents/Guardians as well as 5th grade students are welcome to attend. Questions? Girl Scouts: I Can't Wait To� When you just can't wait for what you'll do next, you can do anything! Does your daughter enjoy making new friends? Learning new things? Helping others? If so, the Girl Scouts just may be for her! From friendship to leadership, and science exploration to career literacy, Girl Scouting provides a wealth of real-world benefits for girls. Clip and Save Your Box Tops: The Box Tops for Education program is an easy way to earn money for our schools! Simply clip and save the Box Tops "coupons" found on these products.
