Letters From The Principals: Be sure to read Mrs. Heyward's monthly letter to Bryant families and Mrs. Alston's letter to Pattengill families, filled with timely information for our school community.

Stop By Applebees Today for Restaurant Day: Come to our first Restaurant Day of the school year at Applebees, 1005 W Eisenhower Pkwy, Ann Arbor, MI TODAY, 9am-9pm. Our principals Mrs. Heyward and Mrs. Alston will be stopping by to visit between 5-6pm. Applebees will give our PTO 15% of all sales for breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Oct. 6. The flyer is attached, but will also be distributed as a reminder. You will need to present a flyer for us to receive a donation. Please consider dining in or getting take-out with your family, friends, and co-workers TODAY!

Movie Night Is Coming- Save The Date: Movie Night will be on Friday, October 21 from 5:30-8:30pm. Please note: A parent or legal guardian (age 18 or older) must stay with the students; children cannot be dropped off. Any child showing up without a parent or legal guardian will be turned away. This is a FREE event! Pizza, popcorn, and water will be available for purchase at $1 an item. All profits go toward enrichment activities at our schools. If you would like to help out with this event, please sign up on the attached sheet. Stay tuned for which movie the students will choose.

Important Information About Pattengill Student Council Elections: Student Council elections are coming up. Permission slips went home the beginning of this week and are due back to Mrs. Bailey on Friday, October 7th. Students need to have petitions turned in to Mrs. Bailey by Tuesday, October 11th (election packets that were sent home have more info.) Posters may go up beginning on Monday, October 10th once a student's completed petition is turned in. (Please note that posters should be regular poster board size with no lights or any heavy objects attached.) Parent volunteers are needed in the cafeteria Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday mornings at 8:30am to help put up posters. The election assembly will be held Friday, October 14th at 9:30am and voting is later that day. Results will be announced on Monday, October 17th. Questions, Contact Mrs. Bailey-

Come Participate In Rick's Run For Kids: Come participate in a great charity event in honor of former longtime Northside PE teacher and Rec & Ed coach Rick Dekeon on October 15 beginning at 9am. Rec & Ed's fall fundraiser provides scholarships to AAPS children from low income families who might not otherwise be able to participate in a team sport, after school class, or summer camp. Last year, they provided over 100 additional scholarships thanks to RR4K. The school and department with the most participants (including teachers, staff, parents and kids) gets a framed 8×10 professional photo of your team from the event; an award certificate; lots of props on Rec & Ed's Facebook, Twitter, enewsletters, and website; and of course your own bragging rights for the year. Runners, walkers, strollers, and friendly dogs welcome! More information and on-line registration click here.

There will also be a presentation given by Ms. Metler and Mr. Gutierrez about the importance of volunteering, involvement, and how native English speaking families can be of help and support to our ELL( English Language Learner) families and help our community continue to grow. .Clip and Save Box Tops for Our Schools: We are again collecting Box Tops for Education coupons for our schools this year. They can be found on many products you buy for your family. Each Box Top is worth 10 cents, and our goal is to earn $2,000 this school year. Invite family, friends, and co-workers to clip Box Tops for our schools, too! Black wooden boxes are outside each school office, to place your clipped Box Tops. Please submit your Box Tops in either an envelope or a sandwich baggie, thank you! Questions? Contact Jean Powell at FYI: the Labels for Education program (found on Campbell Soup cans, etc.) was discontinued as of July 2016. There is no need to clip these or send them in with Box Tops.
