N.A.A.P.I.D/Parent Involvement Day: Save the date — Monday, Feb. 13, is N.A.A.P.I.D/Parent Involvement Day. This is a day designated to encourage parents to connect with their child's school and become involved in their education. National African American Parent Involvement Day (N.A.A.P.I.D.) is a national initiative started by Joe Dulin, former Ann Arbor principal. We invite ALL parents to join us for programs at Bryant/Pattengill. Bryant will feature a continental breakfast (8:50-9:45am) and presentation led by Dr. Malverne Winborne, EMU Director of Charter Schools and former B/P parent and School Improvement Team member. He will be speaking on "Raising Successful Children." Pattengill will host a luncheon (12:00-12:45pm), which will include the presentation "Becoming Allies for Social Justice through commUNITY!" and discussion time. The guest speaker will be Huda Essa, Founder, Consultant Culture Links, LLC. She is the author of Teach Us Your Name, a resource guide of strategies and discussion points to highlight ideas for embracing diversity and inclusion. Activities will conclude with a school-wide Talent Show at Pattengill, 1:30-3:30pm. All parents are invited and encouraged to attend Parent Involvement Day!
