Bryant Book Fair Is Next Week: It takes many hands to help students select and purchase books at our annual Book Fair. Sales will run from Tuesday, March 7 — Friday, March 10. Family Night is Thursday, March 9. Volunteers are needed for ALL days and times, along with preview day (Monday, 3/6) and teardown (Friday, 3/10). To volunteer, go to the Signup Genius. Questions? New Dates Announced: Next week is Spirit Week at Bryant — see Mrs. Heyward's March letter for more details. Join Mrs. Heyward and Mrs. Alston for casual conversation at Pizza with the Principals on Thursday, March 16, 6-7pm at Bryant Community Center (3 W. Eden Ct.). Also plan to join your student for lunch during Lunch with a Loved One on Thursday, March 30 for Pattengill and Friday, March 31 for Bryant.
Interested in Being a Coordinator for Family Science Night? Have you been thinking about helping in a leadership role, but wanted to start off with a smaller event? Well this event is for you! We need a parent coordinator for Family Science Night held at Bryant. The coordinator's responsibilities include: creating a volunteer sign-up sheet, scheduling the volunteers, greeting staff from the Hands-On Museum, and working with Mrs. Heyward and the custodial staff to have the gym set up. We are also in need of a few volunteers to assist our coordinator. Duties include: set-up/clean-up, sell snacks, welcome families, etc. Set-up: 3:30-5:30pm the day of the event, Hands-On Museum staff will arrive at 4:30pm. Disability Awareness Workshop- Volunteers Needed On March 16! "Can you imagine what it would be like to push a wheelchair through the snow?" The Disability Awareness Workshop (DAW) is a one-day program to teach an empathetic understanding of physical, developmental, and learning disabilities. We are proud to once again offer this powerful experience for our 4th graders! This event is a chance to make a difference in your community. We are still in need of a few volunteers for our Pattengill workshop the morning of March 16. Volunteers are needed at several hands�-on stations: vision, hearing, speech, learning disabilities, physical impairments, and building accessibility. Read-A-Thon Begins Friday: Our annual Read-A-Thon fundraiser will run from March 3-15. It's easy and FUN! Students ask friends and relatives to sponsor them for time spent reading. As they read, they will also earn raffle tickets for a chance to win small, daily prizes. The classroom with the highest average hours read per student at Bryant and Pattengill will each win a class party! Read-A-Thon is a major fundraiser for our paired schools, helping to fund field trips, assemblies, classroom supplies, and much more. Your child will be bringing a packet of materials home soon. The Families Care Conference "Promoting Student Success Through Building Positive Relationships" will be held on March 28, 6-8pm at Scarlett Middle School (3300 Lorraine) with special guest speaker, Dr. Jay Marks, Ph.D. Dr. Marks is a widely respected educator with expertise in the areas of Closing the Achievement Gap, Differentiated Instruction, Student Engagement, and Urban Education. Dinner will be served from 5:30-6:00pm.
Last Call for A2 Symphony Orchestra Concert Tickets: Because of the generosity of the A2 Symphony Orchestra, there is an opportunity for some of our Bryant families to attend the Peter and the Wolf concert at the Michigan Theater on Sunday, April 9, at 4pm. If you are a family who receives free lunch, and you are interested in attending, please email Principal Heyward at heywardr@aaps.k12.mi.us. There will be three tickets per family and tickets are given on a first-come, first-served basis.
